JINJA - About 10,000 sugar cane growers in Busoga have sought police clearance to stage a peaceful demonstration in support of embattled Libyan leader, Col Muammar Gaddafi. The farmers say they reject the central bank’s recent seizure of Tropical Bank— one of the Libyan investments in the country.

The bank was last week taken over by Bank of Uganda in accordance with the UN resolution, 1973 that froze Gaddafi’s assets world-wide. In the letter to the Inspector General of Police dated

Government should use PAYE tax to pay interns

Before students graduate at university, they are required to go to the field and practice what they have learnt in class. Perhaps this is one of the most relevant requirements before graduation that needs collective support, from academic institutions, lecturers, teachers, and organizations that offer placements.

Unfortunately searching for an internship placement puts a student in a more or less desperate situation just like looking for a permanent job. It’s plain knowledge that

Citizens hold the key to safety in the country

The heat created by elections is way out of our system and fortunately so are all planned demonstrations. Our lives have normalised and it feels great to once again go back to the things we love like football, music, comedy, dance and fashion shows.

However, what seems to be a problem in our culture is that we tend to get so excited about everything else at the expense of our safety. If more Ugandans were mindful of their security especially when we go to crowded places such as mentioned

MUK must dismiss students who take long to complete their degrees

Makerere University’s new policy to expel students who have taken too long to complete their degrees will see about 2,000 students face dismissal. New UK visa application policy is unrealistic

I was disappointed when I read the Daily Monitor article “Application for UK visas now online” dated 29 march 2011.
The article elaborated that starting May 30, 2011 people will apply for UK visas on online.
This, in my opinion is unrealistic for many Ugandans.

Visa applications on line may be of advantage for the elite from distant places trying to beat time spent in the application process and queues as put by the UK High Commission in Kampala but it does not favour the computer

How can Traffic Lights not be Intelligent?

I was happy to learn that Traffic Police will no longer be controlling city traffic and will leave this responsibility to Kampala City Council. This was reported in the New Vision on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the article, ‘police officers ordered off traffic lights.’ Surprisingly, the justification given for the intervention of traffic police, in the past, was because traffic lights are ‘not intelligent.’

Police need to get a hold on lynch mobs

Almost everyone loves to hate thieves and murderers to say the least. There are a menace to society and would be better off caged someplace. But the burning to death of a suspected thief in Ntinda by a lynch mob of boda boda cyclists marked a significant miscarriage of justice and suggested that mob justice if left unchecked could become the order of the day.

An investigation into repeated killings of suspected thieves by lynch mobs, Police say, reveals that boda boda cyclists are taking

As such, manifestos clearly indicate priority areas which must be tackled by the political candidate.

Medicine for the struggling relationships and marriages

Listen ladies sometimes we are to much with our insecurities and all around baggage. Who cares if he is cheating or not. This is my question. What are you doing to keep the focus on you? Are you going through his pockets? Walking around with an attitude like you are entitled his attention? You are blessed to have a man to come home to you no matter what and take your low down attitude and your own crazy ways. Instead of trying to find out if he is cheating by following him and watching his every move, go home and fix yourself up, cook, clean and get ready to welcome your man to a happy home when he walks into the door. He is out there dealing with temptations, stress, insults, failures, low self-esteem at times and in all that he is trying to figure out how he is going to get ahead so that he can provide you all your demanding needs and inner-most desires. Give him a break he needs his castle to be a calm place to relax and enjoy the spoils of war.

Work on yourself. Stop trying to work on him. Show him that you support him and love him and that he is the most desirable man on the planet. Then he can open up to you, he will ask you what do you think about this or that! If he has to come home and deal with your legal questioning about the girl next door he just might focus on her a little bit more and you will slowly disappear. Keep yourself happy and stop whinning about if he is or not cheating...men will always fantasize! Sometimes they just might take a leap! If you really want him to stay make it about you and keep the focus on you! In doing this you will always be the apple of his eye! Men dislike an unconfident woman! They love attention! Pay him some attention and cheating will be a thing of the past and keeping up with your love life between you and your man will be a theme of the future.

There has been an improvement in the way the police has dealt with crime and we would be grateful if the same continued even after elections. Now that the storm about the crime preventers

Katwere, whose side played to a 1-1 draw at Nakivubo Stadium last Saturday, believes their hosts Motema Pembe are as vulnerable as any other team. “This is football; we can win away in Congo. The extortionist taxi men must be reined in

The norm is, a little spike in the price of fuel by about 50 shillings usually triggers a humongous hike in transport fares by about Shs 300 -500.

Government concedes it has no control over fuel prices because the market is liberalized and there are external market forces beyond its realm.

They supplied seedlings worth Shs1 billion to government through the Uganda Coffee Development Authority in 2001 but up to now they have not been paid.

Sex Sells..... But The Repercussions Are Deadly

Today i beg not to greet you. i am disgusted to the point of going berserk. i came close to tears when i saw a form three girl hawking a baby from one Masaka road Chinese contractor to another. it was even sad to hear that she did not know the father. (oh my, what a life?)

....and what if the girls is a Proud to be a Ugandan member? if she is i am sure she is one of those who log in to check explicit material or post her half naked pictures. my heart almost missed a beat when she was being interviewed....she must have forgotten to say 'serikali inisaidie' or 'haki yetu'. i have never seen such a generation.... i am sad very sad.

i have said here before, lack of discipline is hurting this country in many ways than one. we look the other way and have taken to using sex overtones for material gains. the following are some of the events leading to increase in immorality in our society.

1. lack of discipline - i blame the parents who pretend to have not time for their children. wake up before its too late.

2. ponographic materials - ponographic materials are being posted all over the internet. those who paste such materials here should be ashamed of themselves.

3. radio and tv -the media especially some radio stations only speak about sex withiout caring that some underage might be listening. what happened to ethics in this country?

4. western influence - i have even noted that here on kenyanlist people like sexual material and stories and everything labled explicit is very popular. please stop, you are hurting this society.

5. alcoholism and drugs - what are our grand daughters smoking? she slept with a man she does not know and did not use protection. this just one reported case, you imagine how many others goes unreported.

i beg you villagers.............. please lets stop the above. lets talk, walk, and act in ways what will improve the morals and ethics in our society.

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK. AND PRAY OFTEN.... WE NEED PRAYERS.
